While working as a Peace Corps volunteer in Central America, founder Mark Rampolla fell in love with coconut water. An active runner and hiker, he was impressed by its ability to rapidly refresh and rehydrate him even in the extreme tropical climate. Here was Mother Nature’s sports drink.

On a mission - to share coconut water with the world

The more Mark learned about its other unique natural properties, the more Mark felt that coconut water was a health secret that needed sharing with the world. Mark felt passionately enough about it to leave his high flying corporate career to pursue his mission and ZICO was founded in 2004.
